BRAIN Biotech AG Appoints Dr. Sven K. Weber as New CEO, Succeeding Adriaan Moelker

The Supervisory Board of BRAIN Biotech AG has appointed Dr. Sven K. Weber as the new Chairman of the Executive Board (CEO), effective October 1, 2026. He succeeds Adriaan Moelker, who will step down on September 30, 2026, after six years leading the company, and will retire at the end of his contract term in January 2027. Moelker will continue as a senior advisor until then.

Dr. Weber, 44, joins from BASF Group, where he most recently served as Vice President responsible for the global enzyme business (Global Business Unit Feed Enzymes & Feed Performance Ingredients). In that role, he drove innovation-led, profitable growth and significantly increased revenue and earnings. His prior experience includes serving as Global Segment Director for the automotive OEM business at Chemetall GmbH and leading contract research at hte GmbH, a provider of high-throughput solutions for R&D workflows. He began his career at Merck Group and holds a diploma and doctorate in chemistry from the University of Heidelberg, along with an executive program in general management at the SGMI Management Institute in St. Gallen.

Dr. Michael Majerus, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, thanked Moelker for repositioning BRAIN as an integrated manufacturing company in the enzyme sector and successfully monetizing projects from the BRAINBioIncubator. He expressed confidence in Weber's ability to continue the strategic direction, tap into additional growth potential, and accelerate operational implementation. Weber commented, 'BRAIN Biotech has a strong technological foundation and excellent scientific expertise. Together with the group’s employees, I intend to build on this to accelerate growth, sustainably strengthen profitability, and bring innovative products to market more quickly. My goal is to develop BRAIN into a leading provider of specialty enzymes in selected application areas and to tap into additional growth potential through the BRAINBioIncubator.'

The leadership transition comes as BRAIN Biotech, which generated €49.6 million in revenue in the 2024/25 fiscal year with around 280 employees, focuses on specialty enzymes for food and life sciences. The company operates fermentation facilities in the UK and additional production sites in continental Europe and the US. BRAIN Biotech AG is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (ticker: BNN; ISIN: DE0005203947). The appointment signals a commitment to strengthening its enzyme business and leveraging its BRAINBioIncubator for research-intensive projects.
