The American Heart Association announced that Bradley A. Maron, M.D., FAHA, is the new editor-in-chief of Circulation, effective with today's issue. Maron, a leading researcher in pulmonary hypertension and right heart failure, will shape the journal's editorial direction and continue its commitment to publishing rigorous, practice-changing science. Maron succeeds Joseph A. Hill, M.D., FAHA, who led the journal since 2016, and Joseph Loscalzo, M.D., Ph.D., FAHA, editor-in-chief from 2004-2016. Shelley Miyamoto, M.D., FAHA, chair of the Association's Scientific Publishing Committee, highlighted Maron's vision and scientific breadth as key to positioning Circulation for continued influence and impact.

Maron brings extensive editorial experience, having served as a reviewer and editor for multiple top journals, including Circulation, The Lancet, The New England Journal of Medicine, and JAMA: Cardiology. He is senior associate dean for precision medicine, director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center, and the Melvin Sharovsky Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He also co-executive directs the University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing.

New features under Maron's leadership include a Clinician Lighthouse article for expert interpretation of diagnostic tests, a Clinician's Corner for real-world clinical practice, and a Patient's Corner to engage the public. The journal will also introduce graphic abstracts, video commentaries, and an accelerated, transparent review process. Expanded weekly eTOC alerts with brief summaries will enhance reader access.

Maron's editorial team includes Executive Editor Karen E. Joynt Maddox, M.D., M.P.H., FAHA, and Deputy Executive Editor Sadiya S. Khan, M.D., M.Sc., FAHA, along with 10 deputy editors covering fundamental sciences, clinical trials, community health, and AI for process and science. The team also comprises 27 associate and guest editors.

Maron's research has advanced understanding of pulmonary vascular disease, leading to over 260 scientific publications and six patents. He has been principal investigator on federally funded projects for more than two decades.
