BOXABL Unveils Modular Server Pod Concept for AI and Cloud Data Centers

BOXABL Inc. (NASDAQ: BXBL), a factory-built construction company known for its foldable housing units, has unveiled a new concept aimed at the booming data center industry. The company presented its Server Pod concept, a design study for modular, factory-assembled enclosures intended to house AI and cloud computing infrastructure. While the Server Pod is currently only a concept and not in production, BOXABL is positioning itself as a potential manufacturing partner for data center developers and operators.

The announcement comes as the data center sector faces unprecedented growth driven by the surge in AI and cloud services. Citing JLL’s 2026 Global Data Center Market Outlook, BOXABL highlighted that the sector is expected to grow at a 14% compound annual growth rate through 2030, with roughly 100 GW of new capacity coming online from 2026 through 2030 and up to $3 trillion in total investment potentially required. This rapid expansion presents significant challenges, including speed, cost, and labor shortages.

BOXABL believes its factory-built, repeatable construction approach could help address these challenges. The company’s core competency lies in mass-producing structures in a controlled factory environment, which can streamline construction and reduce on-site labor. The Server Pod concept extends this expertise to the data center realm, offering configurations ranging from a 10-foot pod envisioned at a 0.5 petaflop tier to a 2,500-square-foot Server Tron envisioned at 16 petaflop operations per second. However, actual configurations, engineering, cooling approaches, and equipment are to be determined with customers.

“We see a significant opportunity to apply our factory-built methodology to the data center industry,” said a BOXABL spokesperson. “By partnering with developers and equipment vendors, we aim to provide modular solutions that can be deployed faster and more efficiently than traditional construction methods.”

The company is actively seeking engagement with data center developers, hyperscalers, colocation providers, and equipment manufacturers interested in custom modular structures. However, BOXABL noted there is no assurance that any agreement will be reached or that any Server Pod will be built.

This move marks a potential strategic expansion for BOXABL, which has primarily focused on affordable housing since its inception in 2017. The company has raised over $230 million from more than 50,000 investors and began trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the ticker symbol “BXBL” on July 20, 2026. Its flagship product, the Casita, is a 361-square-foot studio unit that unfolds on-site in under an hour. The company also offers the smaller Baby Box and is developing stackable modules for larger residential structures.

By entering the data center space, BOXABL could diversify its revenue streams and tap into a high-growth market. The modular nature of its construction process aligns well with the needs of data center operators who require rapid deployment and scalability. As AI and cloud computing continue to drive demand for new infrastructure, factory-built solutions may become increasingly attractive.

Industry analysts note that the data center construction market is ripe for innovation, with traditional methods often bogged down by permitting, labor shortages, and long build times. Modular construction offers a way to mitigate these issues, and BOXABL’s factory-based approach could be a key differentiator.
