Boerne Named Finalist in Hallmark Channel's Merriest Christmas Town Contest

Boerne, Texas, has been named a finalist in Hallmark Channel's 2026 Merriest Christmas Town contest, joining 24 other communities nationwide. As the only Texas town in this year's lineup, Boerne's selection underscores its reputation for small-town holiday charm. Voting is open now through Friday, September 4, with participants allowed to cast one vote per day.

The recognition reflects what locals and visitors have long known: during the holiday season, Boerne's historic Hill Country Mile transforms into a festive scene straight out of a Christmas movie. The town's combination of community traditions and seasonal events creates an atmosphere that has made it a sought-after destination in the Texas Hill Country.

Mayor Frank Ritchie emphasized the community's role in this achievement. "At the center of the celebration are the people who are part of our wonderful community," he said. "That sense of community is what has helped Boerne build a reputation as a Texas Hill Country destination throughout the holiday season."

One of Boerne's signature events is Dickens on Main, which takes over the Hill Country Mile during Thanksgiving weekend. The event features live entertainment, holiday activities, and Victorian-inspired characters and decorations, drawing crowds from across the region.

Visit Boerne Marketing Specialist Tori Bellos highlighted the collaborative effort behind the town's holiday appeal. "What makes Christmas in Boerne so special is that it's truly a community effort," she said. "Our role is to help visitors discover everything that makes Boerne unique while making sure our local businesses have the information and resources they need to welcome them."

The holiday season continues with Weihnachts Weekend and the annual nighttime Weihnachts Parade, along with Kinder Fest, holiday markets, and shopping events throughout December. These festivities are a testament to the town's dedication to creating a magical experience for all ages.

But Boerne's selection is about more than lights and decorations. Kim Blohm, President and CEO of the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce, noted the deeper significance: "It is no mystery, a key component of the community's Christmas celebration is the local businesses, volunteers, organizations and residents who help bring the season to life each year. Our small business owners welcome visitors, neighbors share longtime traditions and families gather along the Hill Country Mile to create the kind of personal, small-town Christmas experience that has become synonymous with Boerne."

Boerne does not aim to be the biggest Christmas destination; instead, it builds its holiday traditions on what makes the town special year-round: its historic Hill Country Mile, locally owned businesses, and the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country. This authentic approach has earned Boerne a spot among the finalists, and now it awaits the public's vote to potentially claim the title of Merriest Christmas Town.
