Aspen Healthcare has been named Best of Denton County 2026 in both the Home Health and Hospice categories, marking the sixth year the North Texas healthcare organization has earned recognition in the annual community awards. The recognition comes as Denton County’s population surges past 1.06 million, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates, an increase of about 18% since 2020. With more than 200 Medicare-certified home health or hospice agencies within about 25 miles of Denton, the award underscores the organization's ability to stand out in a highly competitive market.
“Being chosen by the people who live here means a great deal to us, especially after so many years of serving families throughout Denton County,” said Sukhu George, CEO of Aspen Healthcare. “Home health and hospice are both intensely personal services. Families remember the nurse who came to their home, the therapist who helped them get stronger, and the hospice team that was there during one of the most important times in their lives. Aspen Healthcare, founded in 2007 and headquartered in Lewisville, provides a broad continuum of home-based care, including medical home health, hospice, palliative care, in-home primary care, private-duty nursing and aides, respiratory care, and veteran-centered services. The organization has expanded its palliative care program, which George believes was a key factor in the 2026 win. Palliative care offers support for patients with serious or chronic illness who may not yet qualify for hospice, allowing them to continue curative treatments while receiving symptom management and coordination of care from clinicians, including nurse practitioners who can prescribe medications.
“Palliative care is helping us reach patients who need more support at home but may not be ready for hospice,” George said. “A patient can still be pursuing curative treatment, or the prognosis may simply be uncertain. We can send experienced clinicians, including prescribers such as nurse practitioners, into the home to help manage difficult symptoms and coordinate care. It fills an important space between traditional medical visits, home health and hospice.”
The addition complements Aspen’s existing services. Home health provides skilled nursing and rehabilitation for patients recovering at home, while home care offers personal assistance for daily living. Hospice focuses on comfort and quality of life for patients with terminal illnesses, delivering interdisciplinary medical, emotional, and practical support. By offering this range of services, Aspen aims to provide the right level of care at each stage of a patient’s journey.

The Best of Denton County awards have recognized local businesses since 2004. Residents nominate favorites across more than 400 categories, with top nominees advancing to a final community vote.
